2023 Tempo D'Angelus - Bordeaux HALF BOTTLE (375ml)

Tempo d'Angélus comes from Château Angélus, the Premier Grand Cru Classé A estate in Saint-Émilion that has been crafted by the Laforest family and their descendants since 1782, with the eighth generation now overseeing the property. The main vineyard sits in a natural amphitheater within sight of three Saint-Émilion churches, close enough that the ringing of the angelus bells could once be heard across the vines, giving the estate its name. Château Angélus has been certified organic since 2021 and applies the same meticulous standards across its full range of wines.

Tempo is produced from vineyard parcels the estate acquired in 2017 on the clay-limestone slopes of Castillon, Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, and Sainte-Colombe, just outside Saint-Émilion proper. The blend leans heavily on Merlot, with a smaller portion of Cabernet Franc adding spice and structure. The wine is vinified in Angélus's own HVE3-certified cellar, using the same sorting and winemaking care applied to the estate's flagship bottling.

In the glass, Tempo shows fresh red berry and cherry fruit lifted by subtle oak, with a sense of verticality and fine acidity that keeps the wine lively. The finish lingers with notes of roasted coffee and toast. Silky, well-integrated tannins make it approachable now, and it pairs nicely with roast veal, herbed pork tenderloin, or a soft-ripened Brie.
