2023 Tua Rita - Toscana Rosso IGT Perlato del Bosco Super Tuscan (750ml)

From Tua Rita's estate in Suvereto, on Tuscany's warm coastal strip, better known for producing some of Italy's most powerful Bordeaux-blend Super Tuscans (Redigaffi chief among them). Perlato del Bosco is the estate's pure Sangiovese expression, fermented in concrete and steel before 12 months in 20-hectoliter French oak casks. 2023 brought real mildew pressure that demanded extensive vineyard selection, but the wine still shows a distinctly coastal Sangiovese character: cherries, warm citrus, and underlying sweetness layered over woodsy, saline notes, unlike the more austere, traditional Chianti-style Sangiovese. A genuinely singular take on the grape from a producer better known for international varieties.
