2024 Argiano - Toscana Rosso IGT Non Confunditur (750ml)
Argiano is one of Montalcino's oldest estates, with a history that stretches back to the sixteenth century on the southwestern slopes of the appellation. Best known for its Brunello, the estate also produces Non Confunditur, Latin for "shall not be confounded," a Super Tuscan blend crafted under winemaker and CEO Bernardino Sani as the more immediate, everyday face of Argiano's classic pedigree.
The wine blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese from estate vines between nine and twenty one years old, farmed organically on alluvial soils streaked with calcareous marl at roughly 280 to 310 meters above sea level. The 2024 growing season brought a mild, well watered winter and a warm spring, then a rainy June and summer heat waves tested the vines before a cooler September slowed ripening and preserved freshness. The wine ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks and finishes with a short stint in older, neutral oak.
The wine pours dark and saturated, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and vanilla. The palate is lush and generous, with a light grain to its texture, good concentration, and a clean, lingering finish. Serve it with grilled sausages, pasta in tomato ragù, or aged pecorino.
