2024 Chateau Carbonnieux BLANC - Pessac HALF BOTTLE (375ml)

Château Carbonnieux is one of Bordeaux's oldest estates, with winemaking on the property tracing back to the 13th century when the land belonged to the Benedictine monks of Sainte-Croix Abbey. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves within the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the estate has been owned by the Perrin family since 1950, who expanded the vineyard and restored its buildings to help the property regain international standing. Today the estate spans roughly one hundred hectares of vines and woodland around the highest point in the Léognan commune.

The 2024 blanc is a blend of sixty-seven percent Sauvignon Blanc and thirty-three percent Sémillon, grown on deep gravel soils over a limestone and clay subsoil that provides natural drainage. The vineyard is farmed under sustainable practices certified HVE3, with grapes picked by hand to protect fruit purity. After fermentation, the wine ages ten to twelve months in French oak barrels, a quarter of them new, with regular lees stirring that builds texture and complexity.

The wine shows a pale yellow color with green highlights, opening to aromas of citrus, white flowers, and ripe stone fruit, framed by a subtle chalky minerality. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with fine acidity carrying through to a long, precise finish. It pairs beautifully with raw oysters, grilled sole, or fresh chèvre.
