2024 Louis Latour - Macon Lugny Genievres HALF BOTTLE (375ml)
Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's oldest family-run wine houses, founded in 1797 and headquartered in Aloxe-Corton. As a négociant-éleveur, the house sources and vinifies grapes from across Burgundy while also owning its own vineyards under the Domaine Louis Latour name since 1985. All wines are made using a gravity-flow system at the historic Château Corton-Grancey cuverie, a method that limits oxidation by avoiding unnecessary pumping. Louis Latour has also been a longtime advocate for sustainable viticulture, holding ISO 14001 environmental certification since 2003.
This Chardonnay comes from Lugny, a village high in the southern Mâconnais long celebrated for producing some of the region's finest white wines thanks to its limestone soils and warm mesoclimate. Lugny was historically the first village in the area planted entirely to Chardonnay, and the Les Genièvres vineyard is considered among its top sites. Fermentation takes place traditionally in temperature-controlled stainless steel with full malolactic conversion, followed by eight to ten months of aging in stainless tanks, a process that keeps the wine unoaked and fruit-forward.
The wine pours a pale gold color, with a floral nose of acacia and honeysuckle lifted by soft vanilla notes. The palate is round and generous, showing yellow fruit and orchard flavors that carry through to a long, elegant finish. It suits pan-seared scallops, roast chicken with herbs, or creamy lemon pasta.
