2024 Vietti - Barbera d'Asti Trevie (750ml)

Vietti is one of Piedmont's most storied producers, founded in the late 1800s by Carlo Vietti at the top of Castiglione Falletto in the Langhe hills. The estate began bottling its own wines in the early twentieth century and was among the first Piedmontese wineries to export to the United States, building a reputation that helped put the region on the international map. Now owned by the Krause family, Vietti continues to draw on grapes from some of Piedmont's most respected vineyard sites across both the Langhe and neighboring Asti.

Trevìe is sourced from vineyards in Agliano Terme, in the heart of Asti's Monferrato hills, including fruit from the celebrated La Crena site alongside adjacent parcels. The name itself nods to three related Vietti wines from this area, replacing the earlier "Tre Vigne" label after changes to labeling regulations. The wine ages for roughly twelve months across a mix of barriques, large oak casks, and stainless steel, a combination that builds complexity while keeping Barbera's natural freshness intact.

In the glass it shows a ruby purple color, with aromas of ripe red cherry layered over mineral and vanilla notes. The palate is medium-bodied and dry, with crisp acidity and soft tannins leading to a long red cherry finish. It pairs nicely with antipasti, grilled vegetables, and pasta in light sauces.
