Château d’Issan, excellence as a legacy

Château d’Issan is the story of a legacy patiently passed down through generations, driven by a constant pursuit of renewal and excellence. When the Cruse family acquired the estate in 1945, they launched a profound transformation: restoring the château, modernising the facilities and replanting the vineyard. Since 1998, under the impetus of Emmanuel Cruse, sustained investment in both the vineyard and the cellars has enabled the wines to express the authenticity of their terroir with ever greater precision.

In 2012, the arrival of Françoise and Jacky Lorenzetti alongside the Cruse family opened a new chapter for this Third Growth Classified Growth. Guided by passion, perseverance and a shared vision, Château d’Issan has regained its full nobility and the soul of a great Margaux.

The 2025 vintage - An anniversary vintage, a signature

The 2025 vintage promises to be an exceptional year: a warm, dry summer provided ideal conditions, allowing for an early harvest of remarkable quality. The vegetative cycle unfolded with great regularity: budbreak on March 30, even fl owering on May 29, followed by mid-veraison on July 28. This harmonious progression allowed the vines to develop steadily, without excessive stress. Thanks to the soil’s natural ability to preserve freshness, the vines endured the summer with serenity. The slow and even ripening of the berries has produced wines of great purity, whose aromatic expression shines with clarity, supported by elegant tension and refined depth.

Tasting notes:

The 2025 vintage shows remarkable balance, with an alcohol level of 13.73% vol. and an elegant, well-defi ned tannic structure, driven by fully achieved phenolic ripeness. The result is a harmonious wine combining concentration, fi nesse and controlled power. A wine of character, built for ageing, yet already irresistibly appealing in its youth.

96-97 Points
"A tight and juicy red with blackberry, cherry, plum and spice aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a crunchy finish. Refined for the vintage, with plenty of character and length"
—James Suckling-James Suckling
95 Points
"Vivid plum colours, as is so often the case in this vintage, and although this is a little less luscious right now than the Blason, it is packed with promise, and the austerity of a wine that is constructed with a future in mind. Rose buds, cassis, damson are fairly discreet at first, and then unroll in layers with slate, woodsmoke and cold ash. 3.63pH. Harvest September 11 to 23. 50% new oak"
