DeKuyper Triple Sec Liqueur 1L

DeKuyper Triple Sec is produced under the De Kuyper name, a Dutch distilling company founded in 1695 that expanded into spirits production after acquiring its Schiedam distillery in 1752. Triple sec itself has roots stretching back further still, with recipes for orange liqueurs circulating since the early 19th century and countless producers adapting the formula over time. DeKuyper's version has become one of the most widely used expressions behind American bars, prized for its consistency and accessible price point.

The liqueur is made from a blend of sweet and bitter orange peels, distilled in neutral spirit to extract their essential oils before natural orange flavoring is reintroduced and the liqueur is sweetened and bottled. No barrel aging is involved, which keeps the citrus character bright rather than rounded by wood. The American bottling is typically finished at 24% ABV, noticeably lower than imported triple secs like Cointreau, giving it a softer, sweeter profile suited to high-volume mixing.

On the nose, orange peel dominates, backed by a faint cardamom spice and a light sugary sweetness. The palate carries that same zesty orange character with a touch of bitterness from the peel, finishing clean and balanced rather than cloying. It remains a foundational ingredient in classics such as the Margarita, Cosmopolitan, and Long Island Iced Tea.
