Don Julio Anejo PINT Tequila 375ml
Don Julio was founded in 1942 by Julio González-Frausto Estrada, who began distilling tequila at just seventeen years old after years of selling it door to door on horseback across Jalisco. With help from a small loan, he built his own distillery, La Primavera, and spent decades quietly perfecting his craft before word of his tequila spread beyond friends and family. The brand officially launched commercially in 1987 and is now produced under Diageo at NOM 1449 in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, a facility that handles the entire Don Julio portfolio.
This Añejo is made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the Los Altos Highlands, a high-altitude region where cooler temperatures and mineral-rich soil push the agave to develop higher natural sugar content. After double distillation in stainless steel pot stills with copper coils, the spirit rests for a minimum of eighteen months in American white oak barrels, considerably longer than the legal minimum for the category. That extended aging lets the wood integrate fully with the agave's natural richness rather than simply sitting on top of it.
The nose brings warm vanilla, dried fruit, and toasted oak, with a hint of butterscotch and light baking spice. On the palate, rich caramel and dark chocolate lead into dried apricot, cinnamon, and roasted agave, carried by a velvety, full-bodied texture. The finish is smooth and lightly spiced, closing with a final trace of wild honey and oak. Its depth and structure make it a natural substitute for whiskey in a classic Old Fashioned.
