Glen Scotia 18 yr Single Malt Whiskey 750ml

Glen Scotia Distillery was founded in 1832 in Campbeltown on Scotland's Kintyre Peninsula, once home to more than thirty distilleries during the region's nineteenth-century heyday. Today only three survive, and Glen Scotia is among them, still operating out of its original stillhouse and dunnage warehouse. Now under the Loch Lomond Group and guided by Malt Master Iain McAlister, the distillery draws its water from Crosshill Loch and produces both peated and unpeated expressions true to the Campbeltown style.

This unpeated 18 Year Old spends seventeen years maturing in refill bourbon casks and refill American oak hogsheads before McAlister hand-selects and vats the finest casks together for a twelve-month finish in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. Campbeltown distillers have favored sherry wood since the 1800s, thanks to the port town's easy access to Atlantic trading routes and the fine Spanish casks that came with them. The whiskey is bottled at 46% ABV.

The nose offers crisp sea salt, perfumed florals, honey, and salted caramel. On the palate, sweet toffee meets apricot, pineapple, and plump sultana, with a gentle warming spice throughout. The finish carries dried fruit sweetness alongside the distillery's signature maritime character.
