Herradura Reposado -PINT- Tequila 375ml
Casa Herradura was founded in 1870 by Félix López at the Hacienda San José del Refugio in Amatitán, Jalisco, a region considered by many historians to be the birthplace of tequila itself. Herradura holds a notable place in agave spirits history as the creator of the world's first commercially released reposado, introduced in 1974, a style that effectively established the middle ground between unaged blanco and long-rested añejo tequila. Now owned by Brown-Forman, the distillery still cooks its agave in traditional clay ovens and draws from estate plantations that trace back to the original stock planted by López in the 1870s.
This reposado is made from 100% blue Weber agave, harvested at full maturity and cooked in stone and brick ovens before fermentation in open-air stainless steel tanks using natural spring water. After double distillation in copper-lined stainless steel pot stills, the spirit rests for eleven months in American white oak, nearly a full year and well beyond the legal minimum for the category, pushing its character closer to a young añejo than a typical reposado.
That extended rest gives the tequila real depth. Cooked agave sits underneath a wave of caramel, vanilla, and butter, with an earthy undertone running through the nose. On the palate, black pepper and cinnamon meet oak and a faint smokiness, closing in a long, round finish with a butterscotch sweetness that lingers.
