Johnnie Walker's roots stretch back to 1820, when a young John Walker opened a grocer's shop in Kilmarnock and began selling whisky as a sideline. The company grew into a full-fledged blending house under his son and grandsons, and in 1893 the family acquired the Cardhu distillery in Speyside to lock in a reliable malt supply for their blends. What began as Extra Special Old Highland Whisky was renamed Red Label in 1909, once the Walker range was split into color-coded tiers. It has gone on to become the best-selling Scotch whisky in the world, a title it has held continuously since 1945.

Red Label draws on roughly thirty to thirty-five single malt and grain whiskies from distilleries scattered across Scotland, including Cardhu, Caol Ila, and Teaninich, with Cameronbridge contributing much of the grain component. Unlike its age-stated sibling Black Label, Red Label carries no age statement, giving the blending team more flexibility to prioritize a bold, punchy character built for mixing over long, slow maturation. It is bottled at 40% alcohol by volume and produced by Diageo under the John Walker & Sons name.

The nose opens with citrus zest and a touch of toasted oak and vanilla. On the palate, cracked black pepper and cinnamon spice lead over vanilla fudge, with orchard fruit and a faint smokiness running underneath. The finish is medium in length, drying out with pepper and a last trace of honeyed sweetness. Its punchy, spice-forward profile holds up especially well in a highball or other mixed drinks.

"Johnnie Walker Red Label is our Pioneer Blend, the versatile one that has introduced our whisky to the world. Crafted from the four corners of Scotland, it crackles with spice and is bursting with vibrant, smoky flavors - followed by a mellow bed of vanilla, a fresh zestiness and the Johnnie Walker signature of a long, lingering, smoky finish.

NOSETake in the spark of fresh zest from elegant Speyside and Highland malts in the aromas of our classic Johnnie Walker Red Label.

PALATEAn exotic combination of spicy cinnamon and fresh black pepper, which crackles on the center of your tongue

FINISHThe flavors developing into a long and smoky finish - the signature of all Johnnie Walker blends.
