Needing lots of air to show at its best, its dense purple hue is followed by quintessential Latour notes of smoky blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, and lead pencil shavings. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Pauillac that has lively acids, a pure, seamless, layered mouthfeel, building yet perfectly ripe tannins, and that rare Latour mix of power, austerity, and elegance that makes this château so compelling. Pulled from just 36% of the total production, the 2016 is 92.9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7.1% Merlot hitting 13.5 alcohol with an IPT of 83. It\u0027s primarily academic at this stage, but it\u0027s starting to round the corner and clearly, with its level of fruit and overall balance, offers pleasure. I think it needs another 5-7 years to hit the early stages of its prime drinking window and will have 75-100 years of overall longevity.","Blurb3":"The 2016 Latour is a vintage that I have tasted a couple of times postbottling. On one occasion, it warranted a perfect score, but that was\r\nthen moot since this vintage had not been released. Now that it is due\r\nto hit the shelves this coming March, does the wine still merit that\r\nthree-digit accolade? Without question, yes. Deep lucid deep purple in\r\ncolor, it seems to shimmer in the glass. The bouquet plays with you, a\r\nbit of a femme fatale, distant for the rst few minutes during which I\r\nchatted with the superstar of this First Growth, winemaker Hélène\r\nGenin. Then, it magically coalesces and gains incredible intensity with\r\nblackberry, pencil lead, background hints of oyster shell and notes of\r\nJapanese wakame. The aromatics announce exactly which château you\r\nare doing business with. The palate is medium-bodied with ligree\r\ntannins, again, as I found before, blessed with beguiling symmetry and\r\nineable poise. Residing rmly on the black side of the fruit spectrum,\r\nthere is underlying mineralité. Veins of cassis run through the\r\npersistent nish. This is everything you could really wish for in a Latour.\r\nThe 2016 can be uttered in the same breath as the 1900, 1924, 1959,\r\n1961, 1982 and 2010. Magnicent.\r\n","ItemNumber":100566,"LimitedToStores":false,"Score1":"100","Score2":"100","Score3":"100","SourceId1":3,"SourceId2":11,"SourceId3":3,"Id":37026},"BlurbSource":{"Name":"Vinous Media","Abbreviation":"VM","Id":3},"CategoryId":1,"Producer":"Chateau Latour","Id":196628,"CustomProperties":{}},{"Name":"2019 Chateau Les Forts Latour Pauillac EX-CHATEAU RELEASE (750ml) (PRE ARRIVAL)","ShortDescription":null,"FullDescription":null,"SeName":"2019-chateau-les-forts-latour-pauillac-ex-chateau-release-750ml-pre-arrival","StockQuantity":71,"Sku":"100567","BottleSize":"750ml","ProductType":"SimpleProduct","MarkAsNew":true,"ProductPrice":{"OldPrice":null,"OldPriceValue":null,"Price":"$189.00","PriceValue":189.0000,"BasePricePAngV":null,"BasePricePAngVValue":null,"DisableBuyButton":false,"DisableWishlistButton":false,"DisableAddToCompareListButton":true,"AvailableForPreOrder":false,"PreOrderAvailabilityStartDateTimeUtc":null,"IsRental":false,"ForceRedirectionAfterAddingToCart":false,"DisplayTaxShippingInfo":false,"CustomProperties":{}},"DefaultPictureModel":{"ImageUrl":"https://www.bassins.com/images/thumbs/009/0097327_2019-chateau-les-forts-latour-pauillac-ex-chateau-release-750ml-pre-arrival_360.jpeg","ThumbImageUrl":null,"FullSizeImageUrl":"https://www.bassins.com/images/thumbs/009/0097327_2019-chateau-les-forts-latour-pauillac-ex-chateau-release-750ml-pre-arrival.jpeg","Title":"Show details for 2019 Chateau Les Forts Latour Pauillac EX-CHATEAU RELEASE (750ml) (PRE ARRIVAL)","AlternateText":"Picture of 2019 Chateau Les Forts Latour Pauillac EX-CHATEAU RELEASE (750ml) (PRE ARRIVAL)","CustomProperties":{}},"ProductSpecificationModel":{"Groups":[],"CustomProperties":{}},"ReviewOverviewModel":{"ProductId":196629,"RatingSum":0,"TotalReviews":0,"AllowCustomerReviews":false,"CanAddNewReview":true,"CustomProperties":{}},"Blurb":{"Author1":"Antonio Galloni","Author2":null,"Author3":null,"Blurb1":"The 2019 Forts de Latour is a tannic, backward wine, as it has always\r\nbeen.
