Maraska Wishniak Cherry Liqueur 750ml
Maraska is a Croatian producer based in Zadar, on the Dalmatian coast, home to more than five centuries of liqueur-making tradition tied to the region's Marasca cherry orchards. The company continues the work of Zadar's historic distilleries, which once supplied European royalty with cherry-based liqueurs, and today the firm also produces Wishniak, a style long favored in Jewish and Eastern European communities and one of several cherry expressions in the Maraska range. Wishniak is produced under strict kosher guidelines, making it suitable for Passover.
Production begins with ripe Marasca cherries grown along the Adriatic coast, which are stemmed, crushed, and pitted before fermentation. The fermented fruit is macerated with agricultural ethanol, and the resulting macerate is distilled in a copper pot still, a method that preserves the cherry's natural tartness and aromatic intensity. Unlike Maraska's clear, drier maraschino, Wishniak retains a deep crimson color and fuller fruit character, and it is bottled at 31% alcohol by volume.
Wishniak offers an aroma of tart cherries layered with almond and soft spice. On the palate it is bold and jammy, balancing sweetness with natural cherry tartness, and finishes velvety and lingering.
