Patron Anejo Tequila 375ml
Patrón is produced at Hacienda Patrón in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, where Master Distiller Francisco Alcaraz oversees the brand's barrel program across the entire aged lineup. The distillery built its reputation on a hybrid extraction method, crushing cooked agave with both a traditional tahona wheel and a modern roller mill, then fermenting the juice in wooden vats before double distillation in copper pot stills. Añejo sits in the middle of Patrón's aging spectrum, above the reposado and blanco but below the extra añejo, and represents the point where the brand's barrel program starts to show its full range.
Rather than resting in a single wood type, Añejo ages for a minimum of twelve months in a rotation of small American, French, and Hungarian oak barrels, some previously used for American whiskey. Because smaller barrels carry a higher surface area relative to their volume, the spirit draws out vanilla, caramel, and oak compounds faster than it would in standard sized casks, giving this añejo a notably richer wood presence for its age than many competitors achieve in the same timeframe.
The tri-barrel approach shows clearly in the glass, with a deep amber color and an aroma of cooked agave, vanilla, and caramel. On the palate, the texture turns velvety, carrying oak, sweet agave, chocolate, and baking spice, while the finish lingers long with woody notes and a subtle, rounded sweetness.
