1985 Dow's - Porto Vintage Port (750ml)
Presenting a fully mature 1985 Dow’s Vintage Port, drawn from a standout Upper Douro harvest and aged decades in bottle to deliver optimal drinking conditions. The Symington family harvests fruit primarily from Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, utilizing the region's granite and schist slopes to produce a wine recognized for its structured backbone and characteristically drier finish among historic vintage shippers.
Traditional production methods dictate the winemaking process, beginning with extended maceration during manual foot-treading before the must rests approximately two years in seasoned wooden casks. Released unfiltered in 1987, the liquid completed a multi-decade in-bottle evolution that has gently integrated firm tannins while preserving depth. The appearance shows an opaque garnet center with visible bricking at the rim. Aromatic intensity features layers of cedar, clove, and dried fig, gradually opening to black cherry, ripe plum, and a persistent peppery heat specific to the estate vineyard selections. The palate reflects this architecture, delivering a silky yet controlled mouthfeel that carries through to a crisp, extended dry close.
