1985 Dunn - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (750ml)

Randy Dunn built his reputation on powerful, structured, age-worthy Cabernet, and this Napa Valley bottling (distinct from his more famous Howell Mountain cuvée) remains a benchmark from one of California's most celebrated vintages. Wine Spectator called it intense and concentrated, packed with ripe cassis, cherry, and currant flavors, rich and elegant, with crisp, juicy acidity and tannins offering great cellaring potential. John Gilman more recently described a complex bouquet of cassis, sweet dark berries, stony soil tones, cigar smoke, and cedary oak, with a deep, full-bodied palate still showing firm, chewy tannins even four decades on, testament to just how built-to-last these wines were made.
