1995 Emilio Lustau - Anada Limited Edition Sherry (500ml)
Emilio Lustau's history begins in 1896, when Don José Ruiz-Berdejo started producing wine on his own small holding near Jerez, following the almacenista tradition of aging sherry privately before selling it on to larger shipping houses. His daughter and son-in-law, Emilio Lustau Ortega, later expanded the business, exporting the wines abroad while keeping the artisanal, small-batch spirit that had defined the bodega from the start. Today Lustau is known for bridging that heritage with modern winemaking, drawing fruit and casks from across the three towns of the Sherry Triangle to produce one of the region's broadest and most respected ranges.
This particular bottling comes from a single vintage of Palomino grapes grown in the Montegilillo vineyard, picked late at full ripeness rather than sun-dried, a method more commonly associated with Port. Fermentation was halted early through fortification, preserving natural sugar and the grape's pure aromatic character. The wine then rested for twenty-nine years in casks that previously held Oloroso, aging statically without blending across vintages, and was finally bottled in a limited release once it reached full maturity.
The sherry pours a deep mahogany hue, with an intense, fragrant nose of candied stone fruit, warm spice, and toasted wood. On the palate it turns rich and mellow, balanced by bright acidity and layered with candied orange peel and vanilla, finishing long and persistent. It pairs beautifully with foie gras, roasted nuts, or a simple spiced fruit cake.
