2010 Chateau Branaire Ducru - St. Julien Ex-Chateau release (750ml)

One of Saint-Julien's most quietly distinguished estates — a Fourth Growth that has consistently punched well above its classification for decades, and now in its prime. The 2010 is the finest wine Patrick Maroteaux produced at the property — deep ruby in color, with enticing aromas of smoke, boysenberry, blackberry, truffle, and mocha. Polished, elegant, and fresh on the palate, filled with deep, ripe, pure fruit, expanding and mouth-filling through a long finish of boysenberry, cocoa, and black cherry. More structured and fresh than the opulent 2009, with slightly elevated acidity that perfectly counterbalances the fruit and warmth.
