Dom Ruinart is the prestige cuvée of Champagne’s oldest house, and it’s made entirely from Grand and Premier Cru Chardonnay. About 70% comes from the Côte des Blancs: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Chouilly, and Bergères-lès-Vertus, here in Dom Ruinart for the first time. The other 30% comes from Montagne de Reims villages like Sillery and Verzenay. A cool growing season and a late harvest built in real tension and freshness. The wine then spent at least nine years on its lees under cork before hand disgorgement, with a light 5.5 g/L dosage. Expect toasted brioche, almond, citrus, spring flowers and a whiff of smoke over a chalky core. The palate is straight and precise, with crystalline freshness and a long, peppery finish. Stunning now with oysters or turbot, and it will keep evolving for another decade or more.

96+ Points
"The 2013 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is another triumph from the late Frédéric Panaïotis. Disgorged in July 2023 after nine years sur lattes, with a dosage of 5.5 grams per liter—slightly higher than previous releases, tempering the brisk acidity of this cool, slow-ripening vintage—it wafts from the glass with deep aromas of fresh hazelnut, nashi pear, orange, hyacinth and bread dough, alongside the hint of Sichuan pepper and a subtle smoky note that only enhances its gently reductive, toasty signature. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and chiseled, combining crystalline purity with vinosity, enlivened by a pillowy mousse and bright structuring acids, concluding with a precise, chalky finish. Expect a structurally more tightly wound version compared to the demonstrative 2009."
