Serious Port from one of the Douro's most underrated houses — and one of the best LBVs money can buy. Founded in 1784 when Christopher Smith — later Lord Mayor of London — opened offices in Oporto, Smith Woodhouse has been making Port by traditional methods for over two centuries. Now under the stewardship of the Symington family, the estate continues its tradition of treading grapes by foot in stone lagares, producing Ports of characteristic opulence and richness balanced by firm tannins.

Smith Woodhouse's Late Bottled Vintage Ports are made in the traditional unfiltered style — designed to be aged after bottling, which is why they retain great freshness alongside their tannins. Dry in character, showing blackberry fruits with acidity as well as richness. Beautifully integrated and richly textured, with a black fruit core surrounded by sweet raisin and spice flavors. Fat, rich, and concentrated — dark fruits, perfectly balanced sugar, alcohol, and acidity, and stunning with a long decant.

Best served with Stilton, dark chocolate, or simply on its own after dinner.
