Argatia is a small, family-run winery based in Rodochori, a mountain village about twelve kilometers northwest of Naoussa in northern Greece. Panagiotis Georgiadis and his wife, agronomist and viticulture specialist Haroula Spinthiropoulou, founded the estate in 2000, drawing on her research into Greece's indigenous grape varieties. Today their sons have joined the operation, and the winery remains committed to reviving traditional Macedonian varieties through a hands on, low intervention approach.

The estate's vineyards climb the slopes of Mount Vermio at elevations near 500 meters, where Xinomavro has been cultivated for generations and is widely regarded as the defining grape of the Naoussa appellation. Farming follows organic principles with restrained yields, and the fruit for this 2016 vintage was hand harvested and aged in oak barrels, a traditional method for Naoussa PDO wines that helps soften the variety's naturally firm tannin while preserving its aromatic complexity.

This vintage shows a bright, medium ruby color with a pure, focused core of strawberry and cherry fruit layered over earthy, forest floor notes. The palate carries Xinomavro's signature vertical acidity and firm structure, giving the wine real aging potential alongside its immediate charm. It pairs well with lamb, game, or aged sheep's milk cheeses, and it also complements rustic tomato based dishes.
