"Dusty cherry and dark florals give way to rich brown spice, tobacco, and a

hint of black olives in the alluring bouquet of the 2016 Nero d’Avola

Erbatino. Its soft textures are contrasted by brisk acids, creating an almost

feminine expression, as notes of tart cherry give way to saturating

minerality and fine tannins. This is long, structured, and spicy, resonating

on dried red berries. The 2016 needs some time in the cellar to come

together, yet it should be gorgeous in a few years’ time. It’s also interesting

to note that the wine was raised entirely in cement, as opposed to the 18

months that the 2015 spent in large neutral oak barrels"
