2016 Taylor Fladgate - Porto Late Bottled Vintage
Crafted by Taylor’s, a founding member of the Port trade, the 2016 Late Bottled Vintage delivers concentrated Douro character ready for immediate enjoyment, removing the expectation of extended cellar aging. Matured for six years in wooden vats before light filtration, this Port bridges accessibility and structural elegance, providing a consistent benchmark expression for festive gatherings or quiet seasonal sipping.
Deep ruby in appearance, the palate reveals core notes of blackberry compote, ripe plum, and sun-dried fig, transitioning into savory undertones of bittersweet cocoa, cinnamon bark, and toasted cedar. The 2016 vintage contributes a bright, natural acidity that anchors the residual sugar, keeping the mouthfeel supple rather than dense and steering the finish toward crisp dark cherry and firm, polished tannins.
Serve at 60°F–65°F (16°C–18°C) in a standard stemmed wine glass. While the filtering process makes it pour-ready immediately, allowing it to rest uncorked for twenty to thirty minutes will lift restrained floral notes and integrate the oak presence. Complement with sharp aged Manchego, crumbled blue cheese, 72%–85% dark chocolate, or warm apple tart. After opening, reseal tightly and store the bottle upright in a cool cupboard or refrigerator, aiming to consume within three to four weeks to preserve the intended flavor balance.
