Bottled from a widely recognised excellent year across the Douro Valley, this 375 ml half bottle of 2016 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port delivers concentrated fruit and pronounced structure characteristic of this established Portuguese estate. Produced only in officially declared vintages following strict berry selection, the wine rests in seasoned wooden casks for approximately twenty-two months before undergoing minimal fining and filtration. The compact half-bottle format reduces oxidised exposure, preserves freshness, and allows measured consumption over multiple evenings.

The wine exhibits a deep ruby-purplish core with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant leaf, violet, and graphite. On the palate, rich red plum and bitter dark chocolate intersect with fine-grained tannins, forming a full-bodied architecture and a persistent, warming finish. Extended bottle maturation will progressively soften the tannic grip while revealing tertiary elements of dried fig, cigar leaf, and damp earth.

Serve at 16–18 degrees Celsius (60–65 Fahrenheit) and decant gently to separate sediment that typically develops after prolonged bottle ageing. Pair with strongly flavoured aged cheeses such as Cabrales, aged Manchego, or Comté, alongside dark chocolate truffles, candied walnuts, or slow‑roasted duck leg. Upon opening, recork tightly and store in a cool, dark place to retain drinkable character for approximately three to five days.

"In 2016 Taylor's began picking in Vargellas on 17 September, followed by Pinh?o Valley estate on 23 and 26 September. The 2016 Vintage Port has an aristocratic bouquet with tight wound aromas of blackberry, bilberry, crushed stone, black olive and a light, marine-tinged element, perhaps almost peat-like. The palate is just beautiful with fine, chiseled tannins and a perfect line of acidity. There is that almost arching" structure one always seeks in a great Taylor's with a gentle but insistent grip towards the finish. It is everything you really want from a Vintage Por""
