"The 2016 Alfredosa Rosso di Montefalco isn’t bashful, showing depths of

crushed blackberry and cherry, complemented by sweet tobacco, sage,

hints of vanilla and balsamic spices. On the palate, velvety textures give

way to plum sauce, currants and ripe strawberry, finding balance through

juicy acids and pretty inner florals, as fine tannins slowly mount toward

the close. The finish is long and gently structured, yet still vibrant, with a

mix of sweet violets and wood spice lingering. This full-throttle Rosso is

composed of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 10% Sagrantino, and while

it’s not for the faint of heart, it certainly is a highly enjoyable glass of wine."
