2017 Bodegas Lan - Rioja Gran Reserva (750ml)

A classic, old-school Rioja Alta producer since 1972 — the name itself an acronym of the three provinces (Logroño, Álava, Navarra) that make up the D.O.Ca. Rioja. This Gran Reserva is 96% Tempranillo and 4% Mazuelo, drawn from 40+ year-old vines across Haro, Villalba, Foncea, and Cenicero, aged 24-25 months in American and French oak followed by three years in bottle before release. Deep garnet with a ruby rim, showing intense aromas of ripe black fruit, fig, and dried fruit layered with vanilla, spice, and smoke. Elegant and aromatic on the palate — star anise, dried thyme, and mocha wind through a core of black cherry and boysenberry, with fine-grained, lightly chalky tannins firming up a long finish. A traditional, food-friendly Gran Reserva that consistently overdelivers for the price. Drink now through 2030.

"The 2017 Gran Reserva is 96% Tempranillo and 4% Mazuelo, sourced

from Haro, Villalba, Foncea and Cenicero in Rioja Alta. Aged for 25

months in French and American oak barrels, this garnet wine presents

intense black fruit aromas with wild herbs and garrigue-like balsamic

notes. Hints of coee, wax and varnish add further complexity. Dry,

rich and taut due to its fairly rough tannins, it lingers with a rm

mouthfeel, showcasing a classic yet warm expression of Rioja.
