2017 Taub Family Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley — Morisoli Borges Vineyard

Taub Family Vineyards traces four generations of winemaking, and this 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon continues that legacy with fruit sourced from the renowned Morisoli-Borges Vineyard on the Rutherford Bench in Napa Valley. It reflects the winery’s modern approach to Cabernet, drawing on respected sites across Rutherford, Mount Veeder, and other storied appellations.

The Morisoli-Borges site sits on gravel-rich, alluvial and volcanic soils, with vines around twenty years old. Cool nights and overcast mornings help preserve acidity, while warm afternoon sun drives ripeness, delivering the balance Napa’s Rutherford Bench is famed for. Grapes are hand harvested, sorted, and fermented with regular pump-overs, followed by an extended aging period in oak to harmonize tannins and aromatics.

In the glass, this wine presents a deep garnet purple color. The bouquet blends dark plum and blackberry with tobacco, anise, and herbs de Provence. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and expansive, built with real structure and intensity that remains plush, finishing long and polished.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet hue; aromas of dark plum and blackberry layered with tobacco, anise, and herbs de Provence. Full-bodied, with a sturdy yet refined tannin framework and a plush mouthfeel; a long, polished finish that invites another sip.

Food Pairings

Best enjoyed with grilled lamb chops, a peppercorn steak, or a wedge of aged gouda—the wine’s balanced acidity and firm structure stand up to rich, savory dishes and aged cheese.

About Taub Family Vineyards

Rooted in four generations of family involvement in the wine business, Taub Family Vineyards was established by Marc D. Taub, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Marty and his father David. Today, Marc and his son Jake focus on sourcing single-vineyard fruit from Napa’s most respected sites, continuing a tradition of crafting Cabernet with Rutherford’s characteristic balance of power and finesse.

94 Points
"A robustly rich and densely concentrated expression of the vineyard in a warm vintage, this wine tastes of cinnamon and clove atop blackberry pie, with soft, supple tannins and well integrated oak. Good tension and texture provide energy and length."
