2017 Taub Family - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Morisoli Borges Vineyard

Taub Family Vineyards traces its roots back four generations, to just days after the repeal of Prohibition. Marc D. Taub grew up steeped in the wine business, a passion passed down from his grandfather Marty and later his father David. In 2013, Marc acquired what became Taub Family Vineyards, and today he and his son Jake focus on sourcing single vineyard fruit from some of Napa's most respected sites, building a modern cabernet house around Rutherford, Mount Veeder, and other storied appellations.

This bottling comes from the Morisoli-Borges Vineyard, located on the famed Rutherford Bench within the Rutherford AVA. The Morisoli family has farmed this land for more than a century, and the twenty year old vines grow in gravel rich, alluvial and volcanic soils that are widely considered ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. Cool nights and frequent overcast mornings help preserve acidity, while warm afternoon sun builds ripeness, giving the fruit the balance the Rutherford Bench is known for. Grapes are hand harvested, sorted, and fermented with regular pump-overs before an extended aging period in oak.

The wine shows deep garnet purple in the glass, with a bouquet of dark plum and blackberry layered with tobacco, anise, and herbs de Provence. Full bodied and broad on the palate, it carries real structure and intensity without losing its plush texture, finishing long and polished. Its richness makes it a natural partner for grilled lamb chops, a peppercorn steak, or a wedge of aged gouda.
