2017 marked the first back-to-back Vintage Port declaration in decades for most Douro houses, with producers comparing the year to the legendary 1945. Warre's blend draws from three of the house's own vineyards, Cavadinha, Retiro, and Telhada, plus the family-owned Alvito and Netas properties, with old-vine field blends from Cavadinha and Retiro providing 63% of the final structure, backed by 22% Touriga Nacional and 15% Touriga Franca. Expect bright floral aromas of roses and violets from the Touriga Nacional, with rockrose character from the Touriga Franca, moving into a full, plummy palate of black cherry and blackberry with remarkable concentration and buoyant freshness. James Suckling called it a stronger, more muscular Warre's than usual, full-bodied, sweet, and structured with real energy. A serious, benchmark Vintage Port from a widely celebrated declared year, built for decades of cellaring.

97 Points
"Lush and inviting in feel, with a beautifully creamy texture that lets plum sauce, blueberry reduction and raspberry pâte de fruit flavors glide along effortlessly. Notes of violet, anise and black tea are beguiling in the background before melding seamlessly on the finish. This shimmers with fruit, balanced by depth and spine. Best from 2035 through 2055. 3,600 cases made, 2,000 cases imported."
