A Pomerol icon in its most majestic format — and a vintage built for the ages.

Château Gazin's vineyards literally share a border with the legendary Pétrus, growing in the same iron-rich blue and green clay soils on Pomerol's prized upper terrace that define the appellation's greatest wines. A 26-hectare estate farmed with meticulous care — ploughing by hand, organic fertilizers, manual harvests — Gazin is one of the most respected names in Pomerol despite the appellation having no official classification.

The 2018 is composed of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with an earthy, broody nose of black soil, tar, and chargrill giving way to prunes, baked blueberries, and sautéed herbs. Full, muscular, and chewy on the palate, with loads of earthy layers and a dried herbs lift on the finish.

Wine Enthusiast awarded 95 points, calling it elegant for its weight — rich, lush Merlot fruit with a sense of restraint, self-contained and already delicious, with ripe berry flavors that promise opulent fruit and structure. Drink from 2026.

In Magnum — the ideal format for long-term cellaring, allowing this exceptional 2018 to develop at a slower, more graceful pace over the decades ahead. Decant 2–3 hours if opening now.

93+ Points
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Gazin (a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc) leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of warm plums, black raspberries and kirsch, plus suggestions of wild mushrooms, fragrant earth, Sichuan pepper and tree bark..."
