2019 Decoy - Zinfandel Sonoma (750ml)
Decoy began as the second label of Duckhorn Vineyards, founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976 as one of the first forty wineries in Napa Valley. What started as a single Napa red has grown into its own respected brand, known for wines meant to be enjoyed on release rather than cellared for years. Decoy now sources across Sonoma County, building on the winemaking resources of the broader Duckhorn Portfolio.
This Zinfandel is built around 80% Zinfandel, with Petite Sirah and Carignan rounding out the blend, and most of the fruit comes from prized vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, an area long recognized for high-quality old-vine Zinfandel. The wine is aged in French oak, which lends structure and a touch of spice while keeping the focus on the fruit itself.
The 2019 Sonoma County Zinfandel offers wild blackberry, strawberry, and violet aromas with a crack of black pepper. The palate is silky and mouthfilling, with soft tannins carrying through to a lush, elegant finish. It pairs beautifully with roast turkey, cranberry sauce, or blue cheese.
