2019 Domaine Overnoy-Crinquand - Savagnin Arbois-Pupillin (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]

Domaine Overnoy-Crinquand sits in the center of Pupillin, a village in the heart of the Arbois appellation in France's Jura. The estate is three generations old, and Mikael Crinquand oversees the vineyards within a family operation that also raises dairy cows for Comté cheese and grows grains. Their 5.5 hectares of organically tended vines cling to steep slopes in the area known as La Bidode.

This 2019 Savagnin comes from a single one-hectare parcel planted in compact grey marl, the kind of poor soil considered ideal for the variety. The wine is vinified in large, old oak barrels and rests there for roughly four years before bottling, developing a nutty, savory depth before release.

In the glass, this is a profound, layered white marked by notes of beeswax, cacao, and walnut. The finish is penetrating and long, with a grip that feels almost tannic, lending real structure to its savory depth.
