2019 Ettore Germano - Barolo Cerretta (750ml)
Sourced from the steep limestone-clay slopes of the Cerretta vineyard in Monforte d’Alba, the 2019 Ettore Germano Barolo delivers a distinctly structured expression of Piedmont’s 100% Nebbiolo classification. The 2019 growing season provided consistent spring rainfall followed by a dry, warm autumn, yielding grapes with excellent sugar accumulation and preserved malic acidity. This viticultural balance translates directly into the glass as precision and structural longevity.
Deep garnet color opens with a complex bouquet of sour cherry, dried lavender, licorice root, and young tobacco leaf. On the palate, the wine reveals a medium-full body supported by polished, grip-like tannins and a bright acid spine. Flavors of red berries transition seamlessly into earthy undertones of damp leaves, iron, and cocoa, finishing with a lingering saline minerality that reflects the region’s calcareous marl soils.
Tasting Notes & Food Pairings- Pair cut pasta formats like tajarin or handmade pici with butter-based sauces or rich wild boar ragù
- Match braised game meats including venison saddle or roasted duck breast to highlight the wine’s savory depth
- Serve alongside hard, aged cheeses such as Castelmagno, Parmigiano Reggiano, or aged Pecorino Toscano
Serve at 60–62°F (15–17°C) and decant for approximately forty-five minutes to soften the youthful tannic framework. While traditionally built for cellar development over the next eight to twelve years, proper aeration unlocks the wine’s full aromatic scope immediately upon opening.
