"The 2019 Terrenus Vinha da Serra is a field blend (mostly roughly equal portions of Arinto, Fernão Pires, Bical, Roupeiro, Malvasia and Tamarez in roughly 15% to 20% chunks) from centenarian vines at high altitude (750 meters). It fermented in a concrete egg and aged for nine months in 50% new French oak. It comes in at 13.7% alcohol. This seems like a great vintage for this. Solid in the mid-palate, this is even better for supporting structure. It's just gripping on the powerful finish but never thin or shrill. It shows off a little reduction, just a hint, and a bit of oak just now, but that doesn't interfere much with the performance here. This seems poised to age well and develop more. It is a very serious white from these very serious vines. It may yet improve more with cellaring. This runs around 30 euros in Portugal."
