2019 Stonestreet - Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (750ml)
Stonestreet Estate Vineyards traces back to 1989, when California wine industry pioneer Jess Jackson acquired what became a 5,500-acre mountain property in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, naming it after his father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson Sr. Jackson, also the founder of Jackson Family Wines, formally established Stonestreet in 1995 alongside his wife, Barbara Banke, with a vision of proving that world-class wine could come from steep, high-elevation mountain terrain rather than the valley floor. Today the estate remains family-run, continuing under the direction of Jackson's son, Christopher, and his wife, Ariel.
This Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from across the property's roughly 900 planted acres, which span elevations from 400 to 2,400 feet on the western ridge of the Mayacamas Mountains. That range in elevation, combined with more than two dozen distinct soil types, creates over two hundred individual vineyard blocks, each farmed and fermented separately to capture its own character. The final blend draws primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon, rounded out with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec for added complexity and structure.
The 2019 vintage is deep garnet-purple, opening with savory notes of blackberry, dark plum, blood orange, and star anise. The palate is rich and full-bodied, framed by ripe, grainy tannins and fine acidity that carry through to a long, layered finish touched with cocoa and dried herbs. Its density and structure make it a strong match for grilled ribeye, venison, or aged hard cheeses.
