2019 Stonestreet - Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (750ml)

Stonestreet traces its origins to 1989, when Jess Jackson purchased the former Zellerbach winery and renamed it in honor of his late father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson. The estate quickly built a reputation for powerful reds and lush whites drawn from its mountain vineyards in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley. Today, Stonestreet continues that legacy through old-world methods, including hand harvesting, small-lot barrel fermentation, native yeast, and unfiltered bottling, all aimed at capturing the full character of its high-elevation sites.

The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vineyard blocks scattered across the Alexander Mountain Estate, ranging from four hundred to two thousand feet in elevation within what has been proposed as the Pocket Peak AVA. That range of elevation and exposure gives winemakers a wide palette of fruit to draw from each vintage. The 2019 blend leans almost entirely on Cabernet Sauvignon, rounded out with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec for added complexity and structure.

This vintage offers savory aromas of blackberry, dark plum, and blood orange, joined by star anise and black cherry. The palate is rich and inviting, framed by polished tannins that carry through an impressively long finish. It pairs well with grilled strip steak, herb-crusted rack of lamb, or a wedge of aged gouda.
