2020 Etienne Sandrin - Champagne Extra Brut A Travers Celles (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]

Étienne Sandrin is a relative newcomer in the village of Celles-sur-Ource in Southern Champagne, but his work ethic rivals that of multigenerational top growers. À Travers Celles is the only blend in his range, drawing on three sites of different personalities and showcasing Pinot Blanc, which is commonly found in this part of Champagne. 

The wine comes from three individual plots — Mouille-Brant, Vieux Moulin, and Grille Besace — running through the village. The Kimmeridgian soil dominated by limestone and clay gives a marked freshness: brown and white clays from the "rive gauche" contribute a silky touch, while the marly limestone of the "rive droite" adds a revealed salinity. 

The 2020 vintage is notable because longer pressing produced a slight natural coloration, but true to form, Étienne refused to add or take away anything from the wine
