2020 Jean-Marie Fourrier - Latricieres Chambertin Vieille Vigne (750ml)

Domaine Fourrier is based in Gevrey-Chambertin, where Jean-Marie Fourrier took over the family estate from his father Jean-Claude in 1994, following formative stints with the legendary Henri Jayer and at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon. He has since expanded the domaine's range considerably, bottling many of the Gevrey premier crus separately rather than blending them as his father once did. In 2011 he launched a parallel négociant label under his own name, leasing additional top-tier vineyards on a long-term basis so he could work with more great sites without taking on the debt of buying land outright.

This Latricières-Chambertin comes through that négociant side, sourced from a plot of roughly sixty-year-old vines sitting close to the Route des Grands Crus. Latricières borders Chambertin itself and shares much of its rocky, mineral-driven soil, and Fourrier farms and vinifies the leased fruit with the same meticulous, low-intervention approach used across his own holdings.

The wine typically shows lifted rose and violet aromatics over dark cherry and raspberry fruit, with a juicy, vibrant palate laced with crushed chalk and warm baking spice. The finish is long, fresh, and precise, reflecting the grand cru's cool, mineral character.
