2020 Mirafiore - Barbera d'Alba Superiore (750ml)

Mirafiore takes its name from Vittorio Emanuele II's morganatic wife, Rosa Vercellana, whom he affectionately called "la bella Rosin" and later titled Countess of Mirafiori, gifting her vineyards in Fontanafredda. This Barbera comes from the Serralunga d'Alba zone, a terroir rich in microelements that gives the wine real character, with pronounced acidity and savory drive. Aged one year in medium-to-large oak casks (2,000 to 14,000 liters) followed by six months in bottle. Expect a garnet-red color with violet reflections, and a nose recalling leather, black licorice, coffee, and blackberry. The palate is full-bodied, refreshed by bright acidity, and resolves into a long, savory finish. A benchmark, well-priced Barbera from a historic Langhe estate.
