Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg was founded in 1933 when Jeanne Gibourg married André Mugneret, uniting their Vosne-Romanée holdings. Their son Georges, an ophthalmologist who farmed vines on the side, expanded the domaine before his death in 1988, after which his widow Jacqueline and daughters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée took over. The estate remains one of Burgundy's most quietly admired addresses, prized for wines of precision and restraint rather than sheer power.

This village Vosne-Romanée is assembled from four separate parcels around the appellation, a blend that lets the domaine draw on several exposures and soil types for added complexity. Grapes are hand-harvested, largely destemmed, and fermented with gentle extraction, then the wine is matured for roughly a year in French oak, about a quarter of it new.

The 2020 shows dark cherry, wild berry, and baking spice on the nose, with touches of dried flowers and a faint mocha note that deepen with air. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied and velvety, carrying a lavish core of fruit, ripe tannins, and lively acidity through to a long, saline finish. It is a rich, heady expression of the vintage, though it still carries the domaine's hallmark finesse.

90-92 Points
"The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries, dark chocolate and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's rich and dramatic, with a lavish core of fruit, ripe tannins, lively acids and a long, saline finish."
