BonAnno takes its name from the Italian phrase for "good year," a fitting play on the surname of vintner Matt Bonanno. Since the label's first release in 2004, Bonanno has partnered with winemaker Jim Milone, who grew up among the vineyards of his grandfather's Mendocino winery, to craft wines built for approachable, everyday drinking. The goal has stayed consistent from the start: deliver real Napa Valley character at a price that invites the bottle to the table on a regular basis.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a small portion of Malbec, sourced from several well-regarded appellations across Napa Valley rather than a single vineyard. The 2021 growing season was notably dry, which shrank berry size and concentrated flavor in the fruit that made it into the blend. That combination of warm, low-yield conditions and a broad sourcing strategy gives the wine its ripe, fruit-forward style.

Deep ruby, it offers black cherry, plum, and blackberry with touches of cedar and vanilla. The palate is smooth and sleek, carrying firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a note of cinnamon through the finish. Pour it alongside grilled sausages or a hearty pasta in red sauce.
