Boscarelli was founded in 1962 by Paola De Ferrari Corradi, who released the estate's first Vino Nobile in 1967 and helped lead Montepulciano's revival as a serious wine region during a period when many considered the appellation an afterthought. Now joined by her sons Luca and Nicolò, the family farms one of the area's most storied sites, Cervognano, southeast of the hilltop town facing the Val di Chiana. Across more than four decades, Boscarelli has built a reputation for uncompromising quality and vintage to vintage consistency, and many consider the estate the property most responsible for establishing Vino Nobile as a modern classic.

This wine remains Boscarelli's oldest label and its most representative expression of the family's philosophy, accounting for nearly half of total production since its debut vintage in 1968. It is composed mostly of Sangiovese, known locally as Prugnolo Gentile, with small additions of Canaiolo, Colorino, and Mammolo. The Cervognano vineyards sit on alluvial and sandy soils rich in lime, silt, and clay, giving the wine both real character and strong aging potential.

The 2021 offers a perfumed bouquet of wilted violet and lavender, joined by dried strawberry and a dusting of spice. The palate is cool toned and fresh, with wild berry fruit and crunchy mineral notes lifted by a touch of sour citrus, finishing long and gently tannic with a resonance of blackberry. Pair it with roasted pork loin, grilled sausage, or a rich tomato based pasta.
