Brancaia's flagship wine from its Maremma estate, Ilatraia is the Tuscan coast's answer to a great Bordeaux blend. The 2021 is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot, and 20% Cabernet Franc, harvested by hand and aged 18 months in barriques. It shows a perfect balance between maturity and finesse, with the supple, silky tannins that are characteristic of the Tuscan coastal terroir. 

James Suckling awarded 96 points, noting aromas of blackcurrants, iodine, oyster shells, and graphite, with a medium- to full-bodied palate, velvety texture, and a vivid, caressing finish. Vinous scored it 94 points, describing black cherry, plum, espresso, licorice, and bittersweet chocolate saturating the palate.

"The Brancaia 2021 Ilatraia is an organic blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. I like the restyled front label design presented with this vintage. This is a bold and generous wine with sweet fruit, blackberry preserves, baking spice and hints of pipe tobacco. The Ilatraia hits the palate with power, but the tannins are softly integrated for a full-bodied but velvety close."
