A hidden gem from Martillac, jointly owned by Count Stephan von Neipperg of Canon-La-Gaffelière fame and partner Didier Miqueu. Vineyards sit on ancient gravelly rises deposited by the Garonne, with a complex subsoil of marine sediment, shelly sand, and clay from the Miocene and Pliocene epochs; hand-harvested and aged on fine lees in a combination of oak barrels (30% new) and stainless steel vats. White peach, pear, flowers, and a beautiful sense of chalky, almost salty minerality give way to a medium-bodied, vibrant palate with bright acidity, purity, and precision that's a hallmark of the 2021 vintage — with a great finish. The midpalate is beautiful, with dried lemon, lemon curd, and mango — medium- to full-bodied, layered, and delicious. One of Pessac-Léognan's most compelling white values. Drink now–2029.

92-94 Points
"The 2021 Clos Marsalette Blanc is 60% Sauvignon and 40% Semillon, and it's unquestionably another gorgeous 2021 white. White peach, pear, flowers, and a beautiful sense of chalky, almost salty minerality give way to a medium-bodied, vibrant white that has bright acidity, the purity and precision that's common in the vintage, and a great finish. I love it. "
