2021 Galardi - Campania IGT Terra di Lavoro (750ml)

Southern Italy’s cult red. Terra di Lavoro is the only wine Galardi makes, from 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso grown at about 500 meters on the slopes of the extinct Roccamonfina volcano, in mineral-rich black volcanic soil and cooled by sea breezes. It’s aged 12 months in French barriques (40% new) and 12 months in bottle before release. The 2021 is deep and powerful, with blackberry, dried violets, graphite, sage, cedar and dark chocolate, plus a firm, mineral frame. It’s built to cellar for decades, and a decant is a good idea now. Pair it with roast pork, braised meats, grilled steak or aged cheese.
