2021 Hundred Acre - Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith (750ml)

Hundred Acre is the creation of Jayson Woodbridge, a Napa Valley vintner devoted exclusively to small-production Cabernet Sauvignon. Its wines have become cult favorites, known for limited production. Rather than spotlighting a single site, Wraith is designed to capture the character of the year, weaving together Woodbridge's estate vineyards into one cohesive wine.

The 2021 vintage marked the beginning of the end of Napa's drought, with near-normal winter rain and a warm, dry growing season free of the sharp heat spikes of 2014 and 2015. Woodbridge considers it an epic year for the winery. Wraith blends fruit from the Ark, Few and Far Between, and Morgan's Way vineyards, and was aged for 40 months in fine-grained French oak barriques.

Red, blue, and black fruit, graphite, dark chocolate, sappy tobacco, and spring flowers define the aromatics, with hints of black truffle and sweet spice. Deep, rich, and powerful, yet weightless on the palate, it carries silky tannins into a long, blockbuster finish. Already enjoyable, it can be cellared for two to three decades.
