This bottling is a tribute from Sebastián Zuccardi to his father, José Alberto Zuccardi, whose vision helped shape the family estate into one of Argentina's most respected wine producers. Building on the lineage of the Zuccardi Zeta project first launched in 2002, the wine is crafted to reflect an older style of Argentine winemaking, one that looks back to the mid-twentieth century rather than the riper, more polished styles that became common decades later. It stands as a personal and historical statement within the broader Zuccardi portfolio.

The fruit for this Malbec, blended with a small five percent portion of Cabernet Sauvignon, comes from the calcareous vineyards of Paraje Altamira and Gualtallary in the Uco Valley. Fermentation takes place in concrete, after which the wine ages for two years in large French oak foudres. This extended aging in neutral wood softens the tannic structure while leaving the fruit's natural character largely untouched by oak flavor.

The wine offers an inviting nose of black fruit and balsamic notes, with mineral undertones, black cherry, and a hint of cocoa powder. The palate is creamy yet taut, concentrated but not heavy, with dusty tannins carrying through to a long, bright finish. It pairs well with braised short ribs, wild mushrooms, or aged cheddar.

93 Points
"The 2021 Malbec Jose Zuccardi contains a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon. It aged for 24 months in 2,500-liter French oak foudres. This is subtle and composed, with aromas of violet, lavender and field herbs framed by cedar. The style has evolved toward finesse and juicy texture, with chalky tension and fine grain. Remarkably, this has carved out its own
identity

"A full-bodied and expressive malbec with 5% cabernet sauvignon. Minerals, black cherries and cool blue fruit. A touch of cocoa powder, but there is nothing plush. Concentrated but austere, with tons of juicy fruit and dusty tannins treading into a long, bright finish. Fermented in concrete and aged 24 months in foudres. Drink or hold"
