Luke Wines was founded in 2012 by Thomas and Kristin Vogele, a Seattle area couple who brought years of Pacific Northwest wine industry experience to the project. Working closely with the Milbrandt family's vineyards and production facilities in Mattawa, the Vogeles built Luke from a small first release into one of Washington's fastest growing labels, eventually reaching over 20,000 cases a year and landing wines on Wine Spectator's Top 100 list. The brand's Cabernet Sauvignon was Luke's very first release, and it remains a flagship expression of the winery's style.

This Cabernet Sauvignon draws on several respected vineyards across the Wahluke Slope AVA, including Weinbau, Stone Tree, Northridge, and Ravenscliff. The appellation sits within the larger Columbia Valley, distinguished by a broad, south facing slope with deep, sandy soils and one of the state's hottest, driest climates. Strong summer winds sweep across the exposed terrain, naturally limiting cluster and leaf size and concentrating flavor in the fruit. After aging in a combination of French and American oak, the 2021 vintage needs only a short time in the cellar to show at its best.

The wine offers aromas of marionberry and dark chocolate, layered with mint and molasses. On the palate, coffee accented blackberry and currant flavors meet polished tannins, cedar, and a touch of smoke. It pairs well with grilled burgers, roasted lamb, or aged gouda.

91 Points
"Snappy and vibrant, with fresh cherry and raspberry flavors accented by toasty spices and cedar, finishing with refined tannins. Drink now through 2030. 14,500 cases made."
