La Forra is Nozzole’s top single-vineyard Sangiovese, from the estate’s finest parcel in Greve in Chianti. The 35-year-old vines sit on a south-facing slope at about 300 meters, and the wine is made only in exceptional vintages. The 2021 spends 16 months in oak. Blackberry and red cherry come with balsamic notes, bitter orange, balm and incense. Wine Spectator praised its “impressive concentration and depth” and “beautiful Chianti acidity.” There’s a long vanilla and chocolate finish. Pair it with prime rib, braised short ribs, roast lamb or Parmigiano. It drinks well now with a decant and should age for years.

94 Points
"A lively, brilliant style, featuring cherry, blackberry, floral and sweet spice flavors. Sleek yet well-structured, this red is balanced, smooth and layered on the palate. A hint of oak spice enters on the lingering, complex aftertaste. Drink now through 2042. 250 cases imported."
